Tonight, October 22 at 6pm a special preview of the new documentary film, Equal Means Equal will be featured at the Michigan Theater. The documentary discusses the current state of women’s rights in the United States; and contains perspectives from national leaders, experts in their field, and stories from survivors.
Currently in the United States:
1 in 4 women are victims of domestic violence.
Every 2 minutes, another American is sexually assaulted, 44% of victims are under the age of 18 and 80% are under the age of 30.
5 million instances of victimization by intimate partners occur yearly among women 18 & older.
The average age of a person being prostituted in Michigan is 13.
